JUPITER CONJUNCT SATURN

Jupiter will conjunct Saturn in December 2020 at the tail end of Capricorn and continues immediately into the beginning of Aquarius. The peak is at about 0º of Aquarius on 22.12.2020. This marks the first of many cycles of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in zodiac signs that are of the only Air element, including Aquarius for this December.
The Jupiter-Saturn cycles often heralds new turning points in history, each cycle being about 20 years. This will be the first of a series of Jupiter-Saturn conjunct in an Air zodiac Sign which will not be interrupted for the next 200 years. This has been acknowledged to be a new era, ending the current cycle of the Earth elements by the end of this year. In my opinion, the Air cycle has really started by 1980 with the rapid expansion of the internet and and its associated technologies because of Uranus (innovation) in Sagittarius (expansion). Let’s examine some history.
What did some of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions bring about in the past?
1742 (Fire – Leo – creativity) – first performance of Handel’s Messiah – til today is probably one of the most performed oratorio in the classical music world – the Hallelujah Chorus comes from this work.
1861 (Earth – Virgo – servitude / slavery) – American Civil War started because of pro- vs anti-slavery factions. Abraham Lincoln became president who put an end to slavery.

1921 (Earth – Virgo – health, service, scarcity, the land) the Communist Party of China was founded by Mao Zedong, famous for transforming China’s economy from agrarian to industrial, which led to the deadliest famine in history in 1958-1962 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_Zedong); the first BCG vaccination against tuberculosis is given; discovery of the hormone insulin; Russian famine 1921-22;

1940/1 (Earth – Taurus – earthly resources / land, finance) – 2nd world war started because Hitler was greedy to conquer; economic expansion after the war.

1961 (Earth – Capricorn – worldly ambition / recognition) – 1st Soviet in space; 1st American in space; 1st Israeli rocket, the Soviet Union detonated a hydrogen bomb which was the largest ever man-made exposion;

1980/1 (Air – Libra – diplomatic negotiation; conceptual ideals; fine living) – 1st IBM computer; www was born in 1981; beginning of the expansion of the internet age and idealistic hopes in the dot-com; rise of the yuppies; MTV; video games; the delicate dance of passive-aggressive tug of war between the communist and non-communist camps; US’s tricky relations with China with regard to Taiwan; Nuclear Freeze Campaign Protest against nuclear arms race. The 80s were tricky years in diplomacy because Pluto was in Libra as well, forming a multiple year sextile with Neptune in Sagittarius (intensity and dissipation of efforts in relations). Moreover, the Sagittarius stellium Dec 1983 herald unbridled expansion in every way possible. Uranus (technology) in Sagittarius (expansion) is certainly responsible for the expansion of the internet and computer technology.
2000 – (Earth – Taurus – earthly pleasures / possessions, finance) – iTunes, iPod; dot-com bubble burst causing financial misery.
2020/1 – (Air – Aquarius – ) – ??
So, what do I think the year end Jupiter-Saturn conjunct will herald for the next 20 years?
Saturn (restrict, make rules, establish system) in the sign of Aquarius (innovate, technology, humanitarian causes) has the energy of establishing systems of in the area of technology to make sure things work, especially when Pluto (exposing and testing) is still in Capricorn (systems and establishments of any sort). Although this may seem like a small thing, a case in point is how the relatively unknown conferencing app, Zoom, has now become the most popular form of conferencing and its flaws are coming into the open, with hacks and sound quality being the main problems. The coronavirus situation has challenged (Pluto) the existing systems to the max. Are we still able to function using the existing systems? We need to find new ways and test out systems. The virus situation is just a back drop for creating innovations (Aquarius) in so many areas that are not working any more. Jupiter (pushing boundaries, opportunities) comes along to find opportunites for innovation – such as, coming up with better conferencing softwares – there’s money to be made here – don’t just sit there and watch Netflix…
Situation:
The coronavirus virus is the backdrop for things happening. Could have been anything else…but what’s more effective than a deadly virus to warrant near complete restraint in human movement
What’s happening?
Restriction (Saturn) in human activities and movement, including business, leisure and education.
Bad / faulty practices in systems (Capricorn) are exposed (Pluto) and questioned (Pluto, Jupiter).

to wear masks or not wear masks (systems) if we are not sick?

close living conditions (aquarius) of foreign manual workers causing rapid spread of the virus.

poor living conditions (systems) of foreign manual workers exposed (Pluto)

sudden world-wide use of a once lesser known conferencing software (Zoom) led to hackers having a field day, exposing the system faults(Pluto), disrupting / restricting (Saturn) meaningful work

government and financial systems (Capricorn) tested and challenged (Pluto)

people are optimistic (Jupiter) and complacent. This can cause more deaths (Pluto)

government bodies (Saturn) and other organizations, the medical community, are taking action to help people out or work (Aquarius), distribute food, masks, and other necessities to those in need (Aquarius), and perform medical care services.

as I am writing this, The Straits Times (8.4.2020) just reported from Geneva – The World Health Organisation warned yesterday that the world needs nearly six million nurses…. exposing (Pluto) the fault in the current system (Saturn)
What I think will happen (Jupiter-Saturn conjunct in Aquarius):

systems (Saturn) will continue to be set for humanitarian causes (Aquarius) – financial handouts and necessities, government (Saturn) intervention to help kick start jobs, and look after the well being of the citizens; innovation (Aquarius) and advancement (Jupiter) in health care for the masses (Aquarius). The common good will be a focus from now on.

optimism (Jupiter) will continue in the form of ventures (Jupiter) to innovate (Aquarius) in the areas of technology (Aquarius) to improve how the world can find better ways to conduct businesses and other activities in the light of the contraints of the pandemic, and to be future proof. What can we do to improve and find ways to restart activities (business, education, leisure, etc)?

next year, the people in authority (Saturn) are not going to sit and do nothing after what happens in 2020. They would come up with new and better ways of doing things.

We are also looking for better conferencing apps; better online business transactions for businesses that have not been online before

better systemic (Saturn) procedures for disease detection and management;

I see the next few years as the beginnings of new innovations (Aquarius) that would help the common good (Aquarius) and they would become new system constructs (Saturn) and opportunists (Jupiter) will push the boundaries (Jupiter) in developing technologies (Aquarius)

Many people are asking – when will this end?
Jupiter does bring a lot of optimism, but we cannot ignore what Mars will do this year! Before we get into what is potentially more trouble, let’s pay attention to another player who may bring better news… Venus….
